Happy New Year & Welcome Back!!
I hope that you had a wonderful and safe holiday break. I know I really enjoyed getting to spend time with my family over the break, as I am sure you did as well. I sure did miss your little ones, and I am excited that we are back to school!
Since our Group A students have been out of school for 20 days, and our group B students have been out 19 days, you may see hints of anxiety for the return to school. Your child may cry, pretend they are sick, or complain saying they do not want to come back to school. We have found the best way to help with this anxiety is to just be very positive and reassure them that everything is going to be fine, and that they will have a great day. We will be working hard at school to help them get back into our normal classroom routines as quickly as possible.
Now that we have returned from our long break, we have to dig deep and hit the ground running. We are half way through the school year! We only have 1/2 a year to get your child ready for the first grade, :) For the next two weeks, all of Kindergarten will be doing One-on-one end of 2nd quarter Benchmark Assessments for our Report Cards. Winter DIBELS testing for Kindergarten will be next week.
December Homework is due this week. January homework was sent home today with Group A, and will be sent home tomorrow with Group B students.
Please don't forget to send in Library books this week. We will have Library on Monday and Tuesday next week. Your child is only allowed to check out a book, if they return their old book.
Have a great week!
